Kindergarten Curriculum
Recent Learnings: In the months of January through March, kindergarten students will continue to work on their ability to maintain the steady beat in their bodies through imitation and, eventually, independently. Students are also improvising songs using the iPad app, Story Cubes, during the “Arioso” segment of class. Each student will get a turn to create a song based on a short series of pictures (or story cubes) they see. This activity challenges students to use their imaginations to create a coherent story in song while also assessing their ability to differentiate between singing and speaking voices.
Favorite Song Lyrics:
Snowman - Scale Song
I have a little snowman
He is so big and round
I made him from a snowball
I rolled upon the ground
I gave him eyes, a nose, a mouth
A nice warm scarf of red
I put some buttons on his coat
A cap upon his head
Watch him as he melts to the ground
Roly Poly - Speech piece
Roly, poly, roly, poly up, up, up
Roly, poly, roly, poly down, down, down
Roly, poly, roly, poly out, out, out
Roly, poly, roly, poly in, in, in
up, up, up
down, down, down
out, out, out
in, in, in
